Merrittonians are also reminded that the construction in front of the RCMP station is expected to be completed around Fall of 2024.
Construction will continue throughout the summer and local’s patience during this project is appreciated.
Merritt was incorporated as a City in 1911, by this time the community’s economy had diversified to include coal mining, which would continue to be a major industry up until the 1930s.
A lot of the infrastructure hasn’t been updated since then and some had been damaged by floods, as evidenced by the random water issues around town.
The construction by Vogth street is vital to the continued functionality of the City of Merritt.
