NICOLA – YRB has notified motorists to stay vigilant during tonight’s commute (April 2nd, 2024)
Forecasts are calling for moderate to heavy snowfall at the Coquihalla summit tonight and precipitation will be spreading throughout the service area ending around 1-2 a.m.
Rainfall will turn to snow as the night goes on.
Most of the snowfall will occur around the higher elevation routes with the valley bottoms getting more rain.

The snow will be limited to the Coquihalla and Pennask summit areas.
Drivers are being urged to be prepared for winter driving conditions when travelling through our higher elevation routes.
If travelling through the area overnight, please be cautious of snow removal equipment working.
For Highway 5 South from Merritt to the Snow Shed Hill there will be 4-8cm snowfall throughout the night and it will be mostly cloudy on Wednesday
The Highway 97C – Okanagan Connector will get 3 cm of snow Tuesday night and also mostly cloudy weather for Wednesday.

Highway 5 North from Merritt to Lac Le Jeune may get 0-2cm through the night and 2-5 cm on Wednesday.
Highway 1 – Fraser Canyon will get rain for the duration of the weather event.
Please slow down and drive to conditions this evening.
Plow trucks will be out removing snow and restoring traction as well as putting out chemicals to help prevent icy conditions.
When flashing lights are on, the trucks are in “Winter Work Mode” and require extra room to perform their necessary duties.
Remember to never pass a plow truck on the right and road conditions in front of the plow truck will be worse than behind it.
