Michael Felsing named BCHL Third Star of the Week
MERRITT — Another day another mention for Michael Felsing.
Felsing led all BCHL players with four assists last week, leading his Centennials to back-to-back wins.
In Friday night’s home game against the Trail Smoke Eaters, the 21-year-old had an assist in both the first and second periods, the second one coming while shorthanded, as Merritt skated to a 5-1 victory.
In the rematch on Saturday, this time in Trail, Felsing matched his output from the previous game, chipping in with another two helpers, both in the second period, to guide the Cents to a 4-3 win. He was named third star of the game.
The Cents were down 3-0 after the first period as Felsing was part of the biggest comeback win of the season.
Felsing’s impressive campaign continues, adding to his total to now sit at 49 points in 42 games, which puts him in sixth in league scoring, while his 35 assists are third best in the BCHL.
The Centennials head to Salmon Arm then play the Silverbacks twice at home to start a four game home stand. They will end the regular season with a five game road trip then two games at home before the playoffs start.
Merritt automatically clinches the playoffs this year with the departure of Wenatchee to the WHL.
The Cents sit in 7th place seven points ahead of Prince George and four points back of Cranbrook for sixth place.
Merritt plas Prince George four times in March, twice at home and on the road.
