Rainy week comes to a close as dry weather in the forecast for Merritt

MERRITT — After the cold snap that saw temperatures dip into the minus 30’s and cars around Merritt struggled to start, the City saw heavy snowfall.
This was all followed by a very slushy and rainy week that saw temperatures rise but conditions cloudy and wet.
First starting the car was an issue, then after the snowfall vehicles were reportedly getting stuck around town in the heavy snow blanketing the roads.
It also made conditions extremely dangerous on the Coquihalla Highway causing multiple accidents as snow plows and emergency crews were out in full force.
Once the rain and slush kicked into high gear mobility issues for residents without vehicles started to arise.
Now it seems the weather forecast will provide a bit of relief for locals in the near future after multiple bouts of weather related adversity.
Dry weather is in the forecast and the constant cloudy weather is expected to come and go as Merritt will begin to see a bit of sunshine now and then.
While most of the snow and ice around Merritt has mostly melted this means the weather can be enjoyed without worry of slush and constant wet conditions.
It’s a step in the right direction but with it still being early February snowfall and frigid temperatures could return as some areas remain wet and muddy.
