Despite rumours circling around town, Merritt is not on the verge of flooding again
MERRITT — Despite rumblings and rumours circling around Merritt the city will not be flooding.
Merritt is in a High Stream flow Advisory, the lowest advisory on the map…
That means river levels are rising or expected to rise rapidly, but no major flooding is expected. Minor flooding in low-lying areas might be possible. While the Vancouver coast is on flood watch the inner southern interior is nowhere near 2021 levels.
The weather forecasts a reasonably dry mix of sun and cloud for the week.

There are no active flood advisories or warnings for the Merritt area. River levels are at about 1.5 metres (as compared to over 2 metres during spring freshet). Stay away from riverbanks and fast-moving water.
Freezing elevations are expected to rise during the event and may result in a rain-on-snow event.
