Sloan Secures 2020 Tour Card
It may not have been his best performance of the season, but a tied for 39th finish over the weekend at the Wyndham Championship has secured Roger Sloan’s tour card for 2020.
For PGA Tour Professionals there are two main ways to secure your card for the following year, win a tournament or end the year in the top 125 in the FedEx Cup standings.
For Sloan he came close to his inaugural PGA Tour win back in February, finishing tied for second place at the Puerto Rico Open. While that would unquestionably be his best finish of the year, Sloan managed to string together a run of five straight made cuts to close the season. A stretch that undoubtedly secured his position within the top 125.
Thanks to his consistent play the Merrittonian sits 91st in the FedEx with the first playoff event, the Northern Trust, teeing off this Thursday.
Sloan will be one of five Canadians in the playoffs alongside Adam Hadwin, Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, and Nick Taylor.
Sloan tees off at 10:17 A.M Thursday for his first-ever playoff round.
The Trust could be Sloan’s last tournament of the year as only the top 70 after this weekend will advance, but at least he enters knowing there’s always next year.
