VALEMOUNT — RCMP released surveillance pictures of the vehicle suspected to be involved in the hit-and-run that killed Merritt City Councillor Claire Newman on July 5th.
Newman had been on her way to meet her husband, whose car had broken down, when she was struck and killed outside Valemount, B.C., about 400 kilometers northeast of Merritt.
In the press release, the license plate number is not visible and the vehicle is missing a front plate.
The Mounties said evidence at the scene suggests Newman may have been outside her car when she was struck.
Anyone with information about the vehicle, or whoever drove it July 4 and July 5, 2023, is asked to contact Valemount RCMP at (250) 566-4466 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
