Wildfire smoke rolling into the Nicola Valley

MERRITT – With five fires burning out of control in the Prince George Fire Centre, the Nicola Valley will be feeling the effects of the flames.

According to the BlueSky Canada Smoke Forecasting System, light wildfire smoke will roll into Merritt with a thicker haze settling in later in the night (May 17).

Officials said the smoke should blow out of the area early tomorrow (May 18) morning.

For those with respiratory issues, the Government of BC recommends staying inside, keeping doors and windows closed, if you are out and about keeping the windows rolled up in your car and visiting places with air conditioning.
