MERRITT – The spring concert returned to Merritt for the first time in six years.
“The last one we had was in 2017 and that was the Canada 150 years one,” said Kurt Christopherson, one of the organizers. “We dropped it for a couple of years and then between COVID, the flood, and everything else, it really impacted groups a lot more then we realized.”
It was a packed house at the Merritt Civic Centre with numerous performances during the night of fun.
“I was very very pleased with the range of talent that we had,” add Christopherson. “We had had young folks that haven’t been in it before, experienced ones, dance, piano, classical music, country western, we had it all. I was very pleased with the turnout and with the quality of the production.”
When asked if the spring concert will continue in the future, Christopherson said he hopes so as it is great for the community.
“We need to keep these kind of things alive and well in the Nicola Valley they do so much to heal the soul. We want to show that Merritt is alive and well and just kicking to get going.”
