MERRITT – Fun activities took place over the Easter long weekend, highlighted by an all time favourite, the Easter egg hunt.
“This was amazing,” said Sky McKeown, Director of Recreation and Facilities. “A huge group of kids in every age group, lots of parents out there holding hands and helping them collect the eggs lots of smiles for sure.”
With more and more events taking place around the City coming out of COVID, the amount of residents showing up for fun keeps increasing as well.
“It’s definitely evident whether it’s ball tournaments or Canada Day events people are itching to get out and participate.”
Even though everyone involved had a blast, McKeown said these type of events take a lot of work behind the scenes.
“Our maintenance division and I put it together. It’s definitely hours and hours and hours getting here early in the morning, staking it out, assisting the Easter bunny and laying out all of the eggs. It was a group effort for sure.”
Throughout the course of the day, there was the Easter egg hunt, the Dance Society ran the concession, face painting and balloon art by the Special Daze Crew, a petting zoo put on by Crazy Creek Farm, and Merritt Fire Rescue were giving truck tours.
