MERRITT – After trading away three out of the four members of the captaincy group at the deadline, the Merritt Centennials are skating out new leadership for the rest of the season.
The new captain of the Centennials is forward Christian Lowe, with his assistants being: Jackson Murphy-Johnson, Jaxson Murray, and Mark Thurston.
“Its a huge honour,” said newly named captain Christian Lowe. “Merritt has such a rich history and have been in the league a long time, its definitely a nice feeling to have it.”
Lowe also added that having the ‘C’ on his chest won’t change anything in his game other than the honour.
“I’m not going to change anything that I do really, I try to be a leader on and off the ice doesn’t matter what is on my jersey. We have a couple of young guys now so just try and make their entry into the league easier.”
