Winter storm warning put into place for the area

MERRITT – Environment Canada has placed a winter storm warning for the Coquihalla Highway.
Officials are predicting snowfall between 10-15 cm over the span of today (December 19) to tomorrow (December 20).
“A low pressure system will land in the Washington State tonight,” said Environment Canada. “The associated front will brush through the very southern part of British Columbia giving a round of snow overnight through late Tuesday afternoon.”
Residents travelling in the direction of Hope are asked to drive safe and be prepared before you head out.
Highway 3 from Hope to Princeton, through Allison Pass, is also included on the warning, with experts saying up to 20 cm of snow could be seen.
Officials encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit, and a flashlight.
