Downed power lines after accident towards Spences Bridge

UPDATE December 6, 12:57 p.m.
According to DriveBC, Highway 8 is now flowing as single lane alternating traffic as crews continue working on the downed power lines.
UPDATE December 6, 11:41 p.m.
BC Hydro crews on now on site along Highway 8 and officials said the estimated time of repair is 5:00 p.m..
UPDATE December 6, 9:47 a.m.
According to DriveBC, the stretch of Highway 8 beginning at Sunshine Valley Road East is closed.
BC Hydro said there is roughly 1,300 customers affected throughout the area along the Highway. Crews are expected to arrive at 11:00 a.m. to work on the downed power lines.
ORIGINAL December 6, 8:59 a.m.
MERRITT – An accident on Highway 8 towards Spences Bridge has caused downed power lines on the roads.
According to witnesses, there is a dump truck in the ditch causing the incident.
The accident is just east of the dump on the way to Spences Bridge.
