Merritt resident is a half a million richer

MERRITT – A couple of trips is being planned by a Merritt resident after winning a $500,000 Daily Grand prize.

Richard Carmichal purchased his ticket from the Pharmasave on Garcia Street, where he also found out he won after checking it with the retailer.

“I didn’t believe it was true when she told me.”

With the winnings, Carmichal said he plans on taking a trip down the Oregon Coast as well as some camping trips. With the rest, he said he will make some investments.

“It’s more or less a safety net.”

So far in 2022, B.C. lottery players redeemed more than $8 million in winnings from Daily Grand.
