Modifications at the Eco-Depot

MERRITT – The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) has released more details about the modified Lower Nicola Eco-Depot.

Officials said customers must pay using Eco-Card, Credit Card or charge accounts as Debit cannot be accepted until Point of Sale service can be re-setup.

When it comes to figuring out the amount of waste, the weigh scales were damaged but the TNRD said tipping fees will be based on volume and potential fees are based on load size or cubic meter rate.

Even though these modifications are in place, the hours of the depot are not changing. The Lower Nicole Eco-Depot will be open between 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. daily.

“This event has not disrupted regular road-side garbage and recycling pick-up in the City of Merritt,” said the City of Merritt.

According to the TNRD, repairs on the site will be made in the coming months.

These changes are in place due to a fire that occurred early Saturday morning (October 29).
