TNRD hosting free household hazardous waste round-up

MERRITT – Residents with household hazard waste have an opportunity to dispose of them safely.
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) will be holding its free annual household hazardous waste round-up in the Baillie House parking lot on October 15, between 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m..
If residents can’t make that time but still want to dispose of waste appropriately, there is another event taking place at Mission Flats Road in Kamloops on October 22, between 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m..
The TNRD describes household hazardous waste as any waste from your home that is considered to be dangerous or has the potential to be unsafe.
Officials said accepted examples of hazardous waste includes:
- Paint
- Batteries
- Oil
- Antifreeze
- Flammables
- Poisons
- Corrosives
- Adhesives
- Grease
- Tar
- Gasoline
- Kerosene
- Pesticides
- Fertilizers
- Devices containing mercury
- Pool chemicals
- Lab chemicals
