Four candidates running for mayor and another 18 going for council in Merritt

MERRITT – The nomination deadline is over for the upcoming municipal election and the race for mayor and council is a busy one in Merritt.
For the seat of Mayor, there are four residents that were able to get their nomination packages in on time: incumbent Linda Brown, current councillor Tony Luck, former councillor Mike Bhangu and former councillor Mike Goetz.
In attempt to fill out six available council seats, current councilors, Melvina White and Adam Etchart are seeking re-election. They will be joined by 16 others looking to get into council which includes:

- Wendy Charney
- Dana Egan
- Mary Fleury
- Norma Littleton
- Claire Newman
- Manuel Olguin
- Deanna Palmgren
- Brian Peterson
- Paul Petroczi
- MJ Phillips
- Susan Roline
- Derry Wooden
Candidates have until Friday, Sept. 16 to withdraw their names from the ballot.
The B.C. municipal elections will take place Oct. 15, 2022.
