Merritt RCMP seize weapons and arrest one man during search warrant

MERRITT – A local man is facing charges after prohibited guns and other weapons were found in a Merritt apartment.

In a news release, Sgt. Josh Roda said Merritt RCMP were called last Thursday (June 30) by a citizen concerned about guns and ammunition found in a residential unit.

After getting a search warrant, Mounties searched the apartment, finding “an assortment of firearms, prohibited firearms, ammunition, a knife and brass knuckles” inside.

The weapons were seized, and Roda said a man arrested on scene was released with a Sept. 6 court appearance scheduled.
