Merritt teenager facing 30 charges after arrest

MERRITT – A Merritt teenager, wanted on an outstanding warrant, was arrested after a major police response in downtown Merritt Tuesday (July 5).
Sgt. Josh Roda said the boy had been the subject of a series of police investigations recently.
When officers swarmed the downtown area Tuesday morning at about 8:30 a.m., the teen took off on a bicycle.
After a chase, he was eventually arrested near Nicola Avenue and Voght Street.
The boy is facing 30 charges, including:
- Break and enter
- Theft of a motor vehicle
- Mischief
- Obstructing a police officer
- Possession of stolen property
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Breach of bail conditions
Roda says the teen was scheduled to appear in court later in the day Tuesday.
