Graduation time at NVIT
MERRITT – It’s that time of the year again for graduates of the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) to receive their certificates again.
This year is even more special for the students as for the first time since 2019, graduates can walk across the stage in person again.
The ceremony started with a welcoming prayer from NVIT Elder David Leonard Antoine before the Chief’s address from Lower Nicola Indian Band Chief, Stuart Jackson. The graduates also heard from NVIT Elder Amelia Washington, Student Society Address from Lindsay Morrison, and a message from the board of Governors, Sashia Leung.
Also speaking at the in-person graduation was NVIT President and CEO, Ken Tourand, who said this is his 45 graduation since starting at NVIT.
In total about 360 students had the opportunity to walk the stage and receive a diploma or a certificate from 36 different programs.
