NVIT handed out year end awards to students
MERRITT – Awards and bursaries were handed out yesterday for Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) students.
“School is not by any means inexpensive, so all of this money that the students get today and in the future when they apply for bursaries really helps goes towards taking care of the every day expenses that they cant work for to come to school and get their degrees,” said Recruitment, Admissions & Registration officer Dale Calder.
There were 50 awards and just over $30,000 in total that were given out between the campuses in Vancouver and Merritt. These awards were community and NVIT sponsored.
“We also acknowledge the generous supports of all awards and recognize your contributions,” said NVIT. “NVIT students benefit from and greatly appreciate your recognition of their efforts and achievements.”
The winner of the SISCO Bursary and student of the Environmental Resource Technology program, Matthew Maynard said receiving this $500 bursary motivates him to keep going and he is very thankful.
“Its really helpful, I have another year after this yet so its going to be super helpful to fund me basically and help me out going into my next year.”
