Merritt man pleads guilty in relation to multiple offences
MERRITT – A Merritt man has pleaded guilty to several different charges over the past couple of months.
Merritt RCMP said Kyle McIsaac plead guilty to break and enter with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm and obstructing a police officer during two separate incidents.
“On August 16, 2021, Merritt Front Line Officers were called to Mario’s Tow yard on Nicola Avenue as staff had caught a man who had broken into their compound,” said RCMP. “The man was arrested and identified as Mr. Kyle McIsaac. Search incidental to arrest led officers to find a homemade firearm in his possession.”
On March 1, 2022 police said they issued a warrant for McIsaac for failing to attend Court.
Another incident happened on April 15, 2022 where Merritt Front Line Officers said they located McIsaac riding a bicycle on Nicola Avenue and he fled from officers which led to his arrest after a lengthy chase.
All this led to McIsaac pleading guilty on May 17, 2022 and was sentenced to 21 days in jail, probation for 12 months, a discretionary firearms prohibition for 5 years, a $500 fine and $100 victim surcharge.
“We recognize outcomes like this are frustrating for victims of crime”, says Sgt. Josh Roda. “Our officers feel the same frustration, but we will continue to pursue criminals and bring them before the courts.”
