The provincial government is providing funding to help several communities impacted by last November’s floods update their flood hazard mitigation plans.
The City of Merritt will get 329-thousand while Okanagan-Similkameen and Princeton will get 100-thousand dollars.
The province says the funding will help them prepare for flooding in spring or early summer caused by heavy rain or melting snow.
It says it will also help Princeton conduct an emergency assessment of the Tulameen and Similkameen rivers to identify any necessary flood-mitigation work in advance of the spring melt.
