LNIB Honors MMIWG2S With Walk In Shulus

More than one hundred people joined with organizers from the Lower Nicola Indian Band Thursday in Shulus to recognize Red Dress Day to bring attention to the tragedy of Missing and Murdered Women, Girls and 2-Spirit People across the country.

The event began at the Shulus Hall then participants made their way to the Shulus Arbour for prayers and traditional songs.

While the numbers have fluctuated over the years, the latest figures report more than 4000 Indigenious women and children have gone missing or have been murdered.

Several people attending today’s event have said it’s “disheartening” to see the lack of movement related to the calls for justice for the missing mothers, daughter and sisters.
