Rocky Pines Wildfire Burns 20 Hectares

A wildfire in the Rocky Pines area near Lower Nicola is believed to be human caused.
The fire northwest of Merritt was reported early Tuesday morning and according to the BC Wildfire Service’s dashboard is estimated at 20 hectares in size.
Quick work by emergency crews have contained the blaze, even with the high winds over the past 24-hours.
As of Wednesday, there are nine active wildfires within the Kamloops Fire Centre, seven of them are under control.
BC Wildfire Service’s also reported that in the province there are 91 fires burning including eight new fires this week.
The service also reports that 84 percent of the wildfire in BC are currently under control.
