Huge excitement for graduating students in the Nicola Valley.
For the first time since 2019, grads within School District 58 will haveĀ traditional graduation ceremonies with all the pomp and pageantry of years gone by.
Covid-19 forced schools across the province to revamp graduation exercises in 2020 and 2021 but at last week’s monthly meeting of School District 58, assistant superintendent Jameel Aziz told the board that this year’s ceremony will be similar to those before the pandemic began.
“Having come through everything we have come through, I think we are all looking for good news and the ability to share and celebrate with our students this year,” Aziz said. “You can bet that we will see extra joy, extra tears, and extra passion for all of the upcoming ceremonies and we are certainly as a school district are looking forward to celebrate with our students.”
Graduation will commence for Merritt Secondary School students on June 16th at the Nicola Valley Memorial Arena while the prom and grad parade will be held on June 18.
Meanwhile, NVIT graduates will receive their diplomas at the campus on June 10.
No dates have been announced for graduation plans for the Community Learning Centre or SCIDES Distance Education.
