No Merritt Country Run in 2022

For the past two years organizers of the Merritt Country Run have had to contend with Covid-19 restrictions forcing the cancellation of the event.
However this year, organizers face yet another dilemma which has forced the group to once again cancel the event for 2022.
When the November floods hit the region, the Merritt Country run lost a huge portion of it’s trail according to event organizer Stacey Krajci.
“Unfortunately because our race route was greatly affected by the November floods, we are forced to postpone the Merritt Country Run for 2022,” said Kracji. “Voght Park and the river trail are both big, big parts of the route in each of the categories and many of the runners absolutely love the scenic trails.”
She added that simply changing the route is not an option at this time.
“In order to develop another route, we (the committee) would have to get it certified which costs quite a bit of money so that is not an option at this point.” she added.
Krajci noted that the committee will see what progress has been made in reconstructing the area near Voght Park before making a decision on what course of action they will have to take for 2023.
