Staff proposing OCP and Zoning bylaw changes
This evening Merritt City Council will debate a list of potential changes to the zoning bylaw and Official Community Plan (OCP).
“Staff have prepared an Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw and a Zoning Amendment Bylaw which outlines multiple changes that address administrative issues,” wrote Janna Bradshaw, Community Planner. “The Zoning Amendment Bylaw consists of minor adjustments or additions, corrections, and formatting changes. The Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw consists of a deletion of the Temporary Use section, which will enable this section to be adjusted for clarification and included in the Zoning Bylaw.”
While staff is proposing just shy of 100 changes to the zoning bylaw, it was stated that the area of the document prudent to the floodplain will still need to be addressed at a later date.
“Additionally, staff are aware that Section 4.30 Floodplain Regulations and Schedule B Floodplain Map within the Zoning Bylaw will need to be amended. Amendments to these regulations and map would need to be prepared, subject to grant or operational funding, following the receipt of updated floodplain data and information on any diking works,” added Bradshaw.
Council will debate the changes this evening at 6pm.
