Merritt woman charged after fighting with police
Karielynn Heppner has been charged after a woman fought with police during an arrest.
“On January 22, 2022, Merritt RCMP Front Line Officers attended the 2200 block of Blair Street for a report of a woman causing a disturbance and allegedly throwing a bird feeder at the door of her neighbor’s residence. Officers located the woman in a nearby field and placed her under arrest. The woman fought with officers during the arrest process,” said Sgt. Josh Roda.
Heppner was charged with mischief, assault a police officer, obstruction and causing a disturbance. She is set to appear in the Merritt Courts on April 19, 2022.
Logan Lake man charged with multiple offences
Scott Markstrom has been charged with multiple charges after a car accident on Highway 97C.
“On January 19, 2022, Merritt RCMP Front Line Officers were called to a collision scene near the 3200 block of Highway 97C where an SUV with two occupants had crashed off the highway. The driver alleged that the passenger intentionally grabbed the steering wheel and crashed the vehicle after an argument between them. The passenger was arrested by officers without incident,” said Roda.
Markstrom was charged with Dangerous Driving, Assault and Uttering Threats. He is set to appear in Merritt Court on April 5, 2022.
