COVID-19 hospitalizations dip below 800 in B.C.

VICTORIA — B.C. has seen another decrease in hospitalization due to COVID-19.

In its latest update, the province’s Ministry of Health says there are now 787 people in hospital due to the virus, a decrease of 16 from Monday. There are 124 patients in intensive care, an increase of five from Monday.

Two more people have died of COVID-19, both in Northern Health. The province’s death toll has reached 2,766.

The ministry says there were 287 new positive tests registered in Interior Health Tuesday (Feb. 15).

There are 39 active COVID-19 outbreaks at healthcare facilities in B.C., including three in Kamloops: Overlander Residential Care, Pine Grove Care Centre and Ponderosa Lodge.

The health ministry reports 90.4 per cent of eligible British Columbians aged five or older have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Eighty-five-point-three per cent have received two doses, while 53 per cent of residents aged 12 and older have received a third dose.
