MERRITT, B.C. — Interior Health issued a toxic drug alert for Merritt on Friday (Feb. 11).
The alert notes the substance, that looks like white granules with coloured flecks and is sold as crack, contains fentanyl and crack cocaine. Interior Health says the overdose risk is high when stimulants are mixed with fentanyl.
The alert is in effect until Feb. 18. It comes one day after Interior Health also issued a toxic drug alert for Kamloops.
Interior Health says any residents who use drugs should be wary and take precautions, such as using with other or at an overdose prevention site.
