Coquihalla snowfall expected to subside Monday morning

A snowfall warning was issued for the Coquihalla Highway over the weekend, forecasting near 20cm of snowfall on the stretch between Merritt and Hope.

A weather system is bringing periods of heavy snow to the region. Snow over the Coquihalla Summit has become heavy this evening and will persist through tonight into Monday morning. Total snow accumulations near 20 cm can be expected before the heavy snow eases to a few flurries near noon on Monday.

The snowfall is expected to taper off this morning (Jan.31).
