Multiple COVID-19 potential activity signals met across SD58
School District 58 Nicola-Similkameen has sent home a number of letters to Merritt families regarding COVID-19 potential activity signals.
The signals are a threshold based on school attendance.
“When abnormal fluctuations in student absenteeism is reported to the District, it results in a “potential activity signal” that is communicated to public health. These signals indicate that further investigation is warranted by public health to determine if additional actions are required,” stated Superintendent Steve McNiven.
At this time none of the signals have led to functional closures within the district.
The letters sent home include specific classes around the city and the entire grade 8 and 9 student body at Merritt Secondary School.
