Merritt records 79 new COVID-19 cases

The BC Centre for Disease Control has released the latest local health area COVID-19 data, covering the week of January 16-22, 2022.
The Merritt LHA recorded 79 new cases of the virus, a increase from the 46 the week prior. With the omicron variant circulating, the Merritt LHA has seen cases increases from 10 to 33 to 46 and now 79 in the past four weeks.
The Kamloops area also saw a spike to 449 new cases, a jump from the 278 registered a week ago.
