Merritt man charged with obstruction
A Merritt man has been charged with obstruction after providing a false name and running from police in July 2021.
“Merritt RCMP front line officers were called to 2000 block of Nicola Avenue for a report of a suspicious man entering the stair well of a closed business. Officers located a man matching the description and stopped him. The man provided a false name to the officers and then fled on foot. After a lengthy foot chase the man was caught in a neighboring business and taken into custody and determined to be wanted on a warrant,” stated Sgt. Josh Roda.
Jaimie Koivisto was charged with one count of Obstruct a Peace Officer. He is set to appear in Merritt Courts on January 18, 2022.
Merritt woman charged with theft
A Merritt woman has been charged with theft after stealing from her employer in November.
“Merritt RCMP front line officers were called to a local business on Dewolf Way as the store owners had located evidence to suggest that one of their employees had allegedly stolen thousands of dollars and various products from them. After a thorough investigation the employee was arrested by officers,” said Sgt. Roda.
Jamie Gordon was charged with one count of Theft Under $5000. She was set to appear in Kamloops Court on January 4, 2021, but the matter was adjourned.
