Interior Health reports 374 new COVID-19 cases; 2,452 total Omicron cases reported in B.C.
KAMLOOPS — B.C. reports 2,944 new COVID-19 cases for Wednesday (Dec. 29) – a new daily high – with 374 of them in Interior Health.
As of Wednesday, there have been 2,452 cases of the Omicron variant in B.C., with 114 of them in Interior Health.
There are 16,014 active cases in B.C., with 1,576 of them in Interior Health. Of the provincial active cases, 206 patients are in hospital and 66 are in intensive care.
Elsewhere, 1,591 new cases were reported in Fraser Health (7,192 active), 571 in Vancouver Coastal Health (5,462), 309 in Island Health (1,353), and 99 in Northern Health (431).
Five new deaths have been reported since Dec. 24, one of them in Interior Health, for a provincial total of 2,419.
There are seven active outbreaks at healthcare facilities, including Ridgeview Lodge in Kamloops.
As of Wednesday, 88.0 per cent (4,384,402) of eligible people five and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, while 82.8 per cent (4,129,587) have received their second.
