The City of Merritt has announced that residents who have returned home in phase one and two no longer need to conserve as much water as possible.
“The City of Merritt is pleased to announce that although the Boil Water Notice remains in place and should be followed prior to consumption, residents of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas can use a normal amount of water, and we are no longer asking for restraint,” reads the release.
“Increased flows of water through the waste water system will assist Public Works in bringing the systems back to full capacity. We are encouraging ordinary use—particularly of appliances such as dishwashers and washing machines at this time,” continued the release.
The boil-water advisory remains in effect for phases one and two, and those in phase three remain on do not consume status, and shouldn’t be running their water for any purpose.
