The City of Merritt has announced that the Houston Street bridge has reopened following an inspection from a structural engineer.
“A qualified structural engineer has inspected the Houston Street bridge across the Coldwater River,” reads the release. “As a result of this inspection, the Houston Street bridge will be re-opened immediately, with no load restrictions.”
The bridge will be the only route in and out of Collettville at this time.
“Emergency access may resume, and persons who have chosen to remain in Merritt may cross the bridge. The Main Street bridge has NOT been inspected, and must NOT be used. The Middlesboro (Voght Steet) bridge has collapsed and is not available,” continues the release.
