Merritt opens applications for 2022 Grant in Aid program
Community groups around Merritt can now apply for the 2022 Grant in Aid program.
Grants in Aid are provided to non-profit and community groups on the basis that they provide valuable programs to the community and are unable to raise all their required funding without the City’s assistance.
Last year the City provided just $35,580 in grant in aid to the community. Some of the approved applicants included the Arts Council, Fall Fair Association, Curling Club, Dance Society, and Country Christmas.
“2021 saw a substantial decrease in applications, again likely due to COVID event cancellations. All 2020 applicants who did not put forward a 2021 application were contacted to ensure that no applications were missed from these organizations,” said Deputy Finance Director Sean Strang.
Each year, Council has a budget of up to $50,000 to provide to the community through the program.
