COVID-19 case count grows by 758 Thursday; ten more deaths attributed to virus
VICTORIA — B.C. is reporting 758 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday (Oct. 28), including 108 in Interior Health. The IH total is the second-lowest of the five B.C. health regions.
The province reports 4,961 active cases of the virus Thursday, with 664 in IH.
Hospitalizations have increased to 434 in B.C. with 155 people in intensive care.
Ten more people have died of COVID-19 in the past day, including four in Interior Health.
There are 33 COVID-19 outbreaks in B.C. healthcare facilities, including Overlander Long Term Care in Kamloops.
The first-dose vaccination rate has reached 89.8 per cent for eligible British Columbians aged 12 or older. The two-dose rate is 84.9 per cent.
In the past week, 64.7 per cent of all new cases have been found in those not fully vaccinated against COVID-19. In the past two weeks, 74 per cent of all hospitalizations are from among the unvaccinated population.
