Merritt Woman charged with Mischief
A Merritt woman has been charged with mischief after spray painting a deck in July.
“Merritt RCMP received a report of a female spray painting a deck in the 2300 block of Garcia Street. When confronted by the homeowner, the female fled on foot. Responding members located her nearby and arrested her for mischief,” wrote Sgt. Josh Roda.
Laura Graham was charged last week with one count of mischief under $5000. She’s due to appear in court on October 5, 2021
Merritt Man giving a caution letter after breaking into a compound at Merritt Secondary School
A caution letter has been given to a man after breaking into a compound behind MSS in August.
“The male had significant history with police that included convictions for theft and was the suspect on other Criminal Code offence files, including a break and enter. The file was forwarded to Crown Counsel for assessment requesting the suspect be charged with break and enter. Crown determined public interest could be served through a caution letter,” said Sgt. Roda.
Spences Bridge Man pleaded guilty to Assault Causing Bodily Harm
Assault at the Prince Motel in June leads to guilty plea.
“The suspect was arrested on site without incident and held for Court. Kyle Yamelst of Spences Bridge was charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Overcome resistance by choking and unlawful confinement,” stated Sgt. Roda.
Yamelst pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm on September 22, 2021. He received a conditionals sentence order for 12 months and Probation for 12 months.
Merritt Man pleaded guilty to Breach of Probation
“On September 15, 2021, Skyler McLeod turned himself in on a warrant to the Merritt Detachment for breaching his probation. On September 20, 2021, McLeod pleaded guilty to that breach,” said Sgt. Roda.
McLeod received 36 days in jail and was credited 9 days served for a total of 45 days.
