Student Vote 2021 elects Liberal Minority, Albas victory

More than 700,000 elementary and high school students across the country participated in Student Vote Canada, coinciding with the 2021 federal election.
Students from all 338 ridings cast ballots in the student vote with the Liberals winning 117 seats in the house of commons yet coming third in the popular vote to both the NDP and Conservatives.
The NDP won 107 seats, the Tories 91, Bloc 20 and Green Party 3. The People’s Party of Canada did not win a seat.
Across Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola 22 schools have reported results with Conservative Dan Albas retaining his seat. Unlike the actual election, Joan Phillip and the NDP finished second for the students.
Local schools participating included, Diamond Vale, Collettville, Bench, Central, and MSS.
