Students return to campus at NVIT
As the new semester begins students are returning to life on campus at the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology.
While face to face instructions will be returning, NVIT President Ken Tourand tells Q101 News a number of safety protocols will be put in place.
“We are planning to go back face to face, and with guidance from the public health officer and the Ministry of Advanced Education the risk of transmission in the post secondary sector is extremely low,” began Tourand. “We have a number of safety protocols, we have all our planning, and of course with the new order, masks are mandatory.”
“We are hoping and strongly suggesting that everybody is double vaccinated, if not we are exploring the possibility of rapid testing,” added Tourand.
Not all classes with require full time face to face instruction as NVIT will continue to use a hybrid model in some cases.
“We have some programs that our 100 per cent face to face and it`s based on the program, stuff like culinary arts or health. But we have other university transfer art programs that we are doing a hybrid,” said Tourand.
“We`re excited, we`re looking forward to having students back on campus, we think it`s the best environment,” concluded Tourand.
