Southern guards on Lytton fire nearly complete

The BC Wildfire Service is reporting that guard work along the Southern flank of the Lytton fire in nearing completion.
“Heavy equipment has made good progress on the guard along the southern flank of the fire. The lines running from Highway 8 to the east and Highway 97C to the west are expected to connect by (today),” reads the file.
As of Sunday evening, the fire is estimated at 84,825 hectares.
“No significant growth has been observed on the Lytton Creek Wildfire. Helicopters continue bucketing hot spots within the fire perimeter,” continued the file. “Work is ongoing to mop up and strengthen the fireguard from Highway 8 to the west.”
The Lower Nicola area remains on evacuation alert due to the Lytton fire.
