Over 50% of new COVID-19 cases detected in the Interior

BC Health Officials are reporting 1,434 new cases of COVID-19 over the course of the weekend.
* Aug. 13-14: 532 new cases
* Aug. 14-15: 441 new cases
* Aug. 15-16: 461 new cases
Of the new cases over 50 per cent, 734, were detected within the Interior Health Authority. There is now 2,982 active cases in the region, 5,090 cases are active province-wide.
There is now 104 patients in hospital, 47 are in the ICU. One new death was reported over the weekend in Fraser Health.
As of Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, 82.6% (3,830,337) of eligible people 12 and older in B.C. have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 73.2% (3,393,049) received their second dose.
