The BC Wildfire Service is reporting that the July Mountain wildfire has officially merged with the Brook Creek fire.
“This fire has seen significant growth in the northern and north eastern flanks as of August 16, 2021. It has now merged with the Brook Creek wildfire and they will be managed as one fire. The new size, 8,000 hectares, reflects the most recent estimate of the two fires together,” reads the file.
Over 130 properties are on evacuation order due to the two fires. Those orders were issued by the Thompson-Nicola Regional District.
The July Mountain blaze also led to the Coldwater Indian Band issuing an evacuation order for Reserve #2 last night.
The July Mountain fire is suspected to be caused by lightning, the Brook Creek fire human caused.
