Mayor Linda Brown has authored a statement on the ongoing wildfire threat to the City of Merritt.
I know that last night was scary. I know that residents want more information and some degree of certainty during this nerve-wracking time.
Unfortunately, there is nothing certain about fires.
What you can be certain of is that our team’s highest priority is your safety and that we are diligently monitoring fire conditions and travel routes in an effort to understand and plan for potential fire risks.
While the City is not the authority on fires or travel, we regularly liaise with the organizations that are, and I promise that we will keep you informed of developments that affect the City of Merritt.
