Roger Sloan was in contention for his first career PGA Tour win on Sunday, but it wasn’t meant to be for the Merritt golfer who faded down the stretch.
Sloan was in the running all weekend after sharing the round-1 lead, and being just a stroke behind after two.
On Sunday, Sloan was right near the top of the leader board until a double-bogey on the par-3 13th hole. Sloan was unable to recover in the windy conditions and finished in a tie for 16th spot.
Starting the week outside the critical top-125 of the FedEx Cup, Sloan was able to move up the rankings to 137, but will have immense pressure on his shoulders with only a couple of event left to improve.
PGA golfers secure a tour card for next season by finishing within the top-125.
Sloan earned $87,890 for his weekend performance.
