No growth on Brenda Mine and Spius Creek fires overnight

According to the BC Wildfire Service the Brenda Mine wildfire East of Merritt saw no growth overnight Tuesday and remains at 450 hectares.
The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen has issued an Evacuation Order for 43 properties in Electoral Area “H.” An Evacuation Alert has also been issued for Eneas Lakes, Pennask Lake, Trepanier, and Pennask Creek provincial parks.
The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an Evacuation Alert for three properties located in Electoral Area “M.”
“Structural protection remains in place on high value resources,” reads the updated file. “Good progress continues to be made on guard line reinforcement. Crews will reinforce these guard lines with small, planned hand ignitions over the next few days, as conditions allow. Staff are working to identify and build contingency lines on active flanks of the fire.”
There are 39 firefighters on site Wednesday, supported by three helicopters and 12 pieces of heavy equipment.
The Spius Creek wildfire to the South of Merritt remains at 2.1 hectares. The fire has not grown since it was first reported on July 19.
The BC Wildfire Service has not updated the July Mountain fire (as of 10:30 am July 21), it remains estimated at 760 hectares.
