Disc golf course coming to Bench Park

The City of Merritt is utilizing a unique grant to build a nine-hole disc golf course at Bench Park.

The City received funding from the filming company that recently filmed ‘The Good Doctor’ in Merritt.

“A donation was made by the filming company, they stepped forward with a grant and we were able to make some purchases against that grant to make this happen,” said Recreation Manager Sky McKeown.

“The disc golf course will be open to the public and will make good use of historically underutilized park area,” added McKeown.

To start, five holes are being installed at the park, with a sixth hole being purchased by Councillor Tony Luck. The final three are still in the works.
